Introduction

The purpose of the lectures will be to present the activities of young, European research-active chemists to an East Midlands audience. They will act to renew and extends links between Europe and our region at this level that were forged by the renowned German chemist Peter Griess and others over the past 200 or more years. They may also be regarded as an opportunity to celebrate excellence in chemical research, in effect a "Festival of Research Chemistry".
