Access to clean water remains a pressing global challenge, particularly in the face of increasing pollutants, emerging contaminants, and growing water scarcity. This themed collection focuses on the development and application of advanced membranes and functional materials, including nanocomposites, hybrid adsorbents, and catalytic systems, for treating complex water and wastewater streams. The objective of the collection is to provide a platform for the most recent advancements and future directions in integrating membrane science with materials innovation, contributing to high-performance and sustainable water treatment technologies.
