Introduction
The lecture will explain how chemistry to make drugs, explosives and other materials can be dangerous when scaled up and operated on the tonne scale (if you don't know what you are doing), and will pictorially highlight some incidents when things have gone wrong and explain how it should have been done safely. Historical aspects of the chemical industry will be covered in the lecture.
